Given the current situation, with all club activities suspended until at least 31st May, the committee have agreed not to ask for membership renewals on 1st April. We expect to ask for renewals from 1st July. When we do request renewal the track element of the junior fees (£50) and the senior track fees will be reduced pro-rata for the remainder of the year. Please DO NOT attempt to renew your membership before 1st July.
England Athletics have extended the deadline for EA affiliation renewal, so you will still be able to book races as a Macc Harrier and obtain the discount. Note that all EA-licenced events up to 31st May have been cancelled.
If you wish to join the club at the present time, please use the on-line form. You will receive a request to pay from EA. You will not pay the track fee element – track passes will become available when the track reopens at a reduced rate as noted above.
The situation is subject to ongoing review.

Hello Everyone
In such unprecedented times, we need to be aware of both our physical and mental wellbeing and we wanted to signpost you to some useful resources. The government guidelines as of today are below. Anxiety UK have some excellent information and have provided the following update:
“The constant information that we are all receiving regarding COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus) is enough to worry any of us but can specifically cause challenges for those with live with anxiety on a day to day basis/have a pre-existing anxiety condition. With self-isolation being so heavily suggested for anyone that is exhibiting any signs of having the virus, it’s extra important  to take care of yourself if you have ongoing experience of living with anxiety as maintaining good mental wellbeing is just as crucial as maintaining good physical wellbeing.â€
They go on to suggest some good coping strategies...

The season is now complete!
We had an excellent turn out across all age groups this year with a total of 128 runners taking part. Â Thirty runners in total completed the club championship criteria.
Cross country is a tough discipline that builds strong runners and teams through the bitter winter months. So, thank you to all those who participated and supported your own team but for also representing your club, Macclesfield Harriers.
A special thank you to all the team managers for volunteering their time to organise and support their runners, to Bob and Pauline for marshalling and encouraging us at many events and to all the parent and adult helpers who shuttled muddy children around the country.
See you next season.

Alsager 5 2020 Race Report

It seems appropriate that on 02.02.2020 that there was a race where you also had to run part of the course 2 times! At today’s Alsager 5 mile race there were ideal conditions to take on this fast course which loops around the streets of Alsager. The 26 Macc Harriers that ran posted some great times with yet again a plethora of PBs.
For the male Harriers Rob Whitby (29:46) led the way. Chris Goodfellow (32:24) was second Harrier over the line. Rob Maxwell (32:39) was third Harrier with a PB performance.
For the female Harriers Alannah Birtwistle (33:43) was first Harrier female over the line. Sian Gulliver (34:51) was second female Harrier with a PB performance. Kathryn Hutchinson (36:10) rounded off the top three female Harriers.
There were many other great results which are listed below along with a link to the full results. Photos and video of the race will be available on Bryan Dale’s website (http://racephotos.org.uk/). Great running everyone!

Please note that there have been a few changes to the Club champs that we posted in December due to the original FRA dates being incorrect:
1.   Kett Killer has changed dates and is now Wednesday 29th April (Summer Series)
2.   Wincle Trout replaces Shrigley Stag as a club counter as they are on the same day (Peaks Series)
Note that we don’t mind the odd overlap of races if they draw a different crowd, but don’t want to promote other local races that may impact on turnout at our club races.
An updated list is on the link below.
