Well done to everyone who participated in Round 1 of the Mob Match vs Bollington Harriers. We had 110 runners help us to victory over Bollington Harriers with 14641 points to their 10979. No rest, however, as Round 2 starts this Thursday Jan 21st until noon Monday Jan 25th against Running Bear Running Club who beat Bramhall Runners in Round 1. Club Awards -- Cross Discipline Challenge

As coronavirus prevented us from celebrating our running achievements last year, and it now does not look like we will be getting together any time soon, the Club has decided to start distributing awards and documenting our award winners from last year. So over the next few weeks we will feature the many different awards that we give each year for the whole range of disciplines where we compete. First off is the Cross Discipline Challenge organised by Dave Larkin.
Back in 2019/2020 when there were races, the following club members completed the Cross Discipline Challenge. They have just received their long overdue vouchers and medals:
Helen Gowin, Jack Farrall, Dave Larkin, Oli Nettle, Will Nettle, Billy Hicks, Rebecca Dilworth, Philip Goodfellow (sorry, last two not pictured)
Congratulations to all of them. Completing the challenge shows commitment and resilience and is a great way to get involved in all that the club has to offer. Details of the challenge are on the website if you fancy giving it a go in 2021/2022.
Dave Larkin (on behalf of Macclesfield Harriers)

At a time when we can no longer have club runs or attend races we now have something to look forward to in January/February. Some of you may have participated in the one off Mob Match last year, well now it’s our chance to participate in the whole competition. For those not familiar with Mob Matches they are a series of matches where our team goes head to head against another team over 5km. Every finisher counts and you can run or walk it. Once the match has ended, the results are calculated, and a match winner declared. It’s a knockout competition with Group stages, semi-finals and a final. We are guaranteed at least 3 rounds. Details can be found at the following link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XOVITWHhmNQc4bfonYsZPIjYVmgEeaLz/view
Current Expected Dates are:
Round 1 - Thurs 14/1/21 – Noon Mon 18/1/21 Â
Round 2 - Thurs 21/1/21 – Noon Mon 25/1/21   Â
Round 3 - Thurs 28/1/21 – Noon Mon 01/2/21
Semi Finals - Thurs 4/2/21 – Noon Mon 8/2/21
Finals - Thurs 11/2/21 – Noon Mon 15/2/21
We’ll be pushing to get as many runners as we can participating in each round up to the 125 runner limit we signed up for. Stayed tuned for more details on how to participate.

From Thursday 31/12/2020 Cheshire is in tier 4 COVID restrictions and with the formal closure of the leisure centre all T&F training is now suspended until further notice.
Road, Trail or Fell training must be limited to 1:1 arranged on a personal basis.
The leisure centre is not managed (the facility is formally closed) so ALL age group training on the track is also suspended - please do not use the track at all.
I will try to update again, probably on or after 14 Jan 2021 when the next tier reviews are planned.
Enjoy the weather, stay safe and positive.

Restart of Running Groups (road, trail, fell) from Wednesday 2nd December

Please see information below concerning the restart of club running groups from Wednesday 2nd December (after Lockdown#2 ends).
Firstly may I advise you to be cautious when resuming running groups (road, trail, fell).
For the immediate future would you please restrict your groups to six people (one leader with five pre-agreed/pre-booked runners).
Each leader must be comfortable to take the lead - there is no pressure for any leader to restart leading groups.
Use the same COVID guidelines as before. Communicate with each other, only allow paid up club athletes who have completed the H&S questionnaire to run, groups should avoid meeting at the same places, and choose routes that will minimise close contact with the public where possible.
Additionally now be careful to stay in our tier 2 Cheshire area. Try to avoid routes that take you into tier 3 (Derbyshire and Staffordshire) and always start and finish runs in the tier 2 area. You should also discourage runners who live in a tier 3 area from travelling into tier 2 for the run.
My requirement to limit you to a group size of 6 (1:5) is because of our close proximity to the tier 3 counties, to avoid possible spread of COVID, and to take account of public reaction.
We can review the guidance and adjust as necessary early in the new year.
Stay safe

We are pleased to say that Track and Field training will resume at the Athletics Track next Wednesday 2nd December 2020, in line with recent government announcements which permit outdoor organised sport. Â
Training will continue in the same groups as before the recent lockdown and only fully paid up members (both membership and track fees) who have been booked in advance by coaches to specific time slots will be allowed on the track. Â
We would like to remind everyone attending to continue to adhere to the T&F Covid Secure rules, including: maintain social distancing, groups of no more than 10, do not attend training if you have symptoms, have tested positive, have been told to self-isolate or have recently returned from a restricted travel area or you live in a tier 3 area. Given the current situation it is very important we keep each other safe by following the rules. Â
Welcome back!
Barbara Murray (T&F manager)
Bob Lynch (T&F Covid Co-Ordinator)
Note: Information about road, trail & fell group runs will be communicated by the relevant section leadsÂ
