Leek Half Marathon Race Report 2019

Fine conditions greeted runners at this challenging Half Marathon with 1244ft of climbing. There were 10 Macc Harriers who ran with some great times for all. For the female Harriers Kathryn Hutchinson (1:46:44) led the way placing a fabulous 2nd place female overall.   Jill Abbott (2:02:43) was the second female Harrier over the line. Kim Eastham (2:08:59) was the third female Harrier. Vanessa Stokoe (2:11:30) and Sarah Booth (2:28:55) rounded off the female Harriers that raced.

For the Male Harriers Stewart Waudby (1:46:44) was first male Harrier. Michael Thorley (1:48:51) was second male Harrier over the line. Keith Mulholland (1:51:06) was third male Harrier. Richard Brown (1:53:16) and Mark Godden (2:00:35) rounded off the female Harriers that raced.

Bollington 10K 2019 Race Report

This years Bollington 10K changed from its usual early September time to early August which meant that this challenging (ie hilly) race was made even more challenging by the warmer weather this time of year. Nevertheless, there were some excellent performances from both the male and female Harriers.

For the male Harriers Billy Hicks (36:39) led the way placing 2nd overall. Billy was followed by Ciaran Wright (42:10) and Neil Gunn (44:01).

For the female Harriers Hannah Bridger (40:55) took the top prize for first woman overall. Hannah was followed by Jo Foster (52:07) and Michelle Summers (58:54).

Wizard 5 2019 Race Report

The rain that lasted most of the afternoon and early evening cleared just as the 24 Macc Harriers who entered the ever popular and scenic Wizard 5 started the race. Even though the conditions were damp this did not stop many Harriers from running well and snagging a few prizes.

For the men Billy Hicks (29:03) led the way just missing out on the top 3 by placing a strong 4th overall. Billy was followed by Scott Wilson (31:05) who placed a respectable 13th overall. Third Harrier was Ray O’Keefe (33:41).

For the female Harriers Hannah Bridger (33:02) kept up her recent excellent form by taking the 3rd place prize. Kathryn Hutchinson (36:10) was second female Harrier and 10th female overall. Rounding off the top three Harriers was Lynda Cook (40:57).

A theme at local races that is becoming common place is the winning of prizes by our more mature runners. So special mention goes out to Neil Gunn (35:14) for first M60, Christine Ritchie (43:25) for first F60 and Ann Harris (43:36) first F65.

Congleton Half Marathon filling up fast

A great race, the Congleton Half Marathon, put on by our friendly neighbours the Congleton Harriers is getting filled up. This race is on Sunday October 6th and is in our Road Running Championships. So to avoid missing out please enter soon!

Alderley Edge 10K 2019 Race Report

Perfect conditions greeted runners today at the fast out and back Alderley Edge 10K ran on the Alderley Edge bypass. There were 12 Macc Harriers who took on this course with some good PB potential. Starting with the women Hannah Bridger (39:27) had a great race placing 7th woman overall. Following Hannah was Tracey McMahon (54:03) who had a PB by over 1 minute. Shelley Lee (1:14:50) rounded off the top three female Harriers.

For the men Shaun Dillnutt (42:53) led the way with a PB performance. James Doorbar (44:03) was second male Harrier along with second U20 in his first 10K. Lee Shaul (45:13) was third male Harrier with a PB time. James Sherratt (47:19), Robert Copeland (47:24), David Newton (51:51 PB), Jeremy Gurney (57:46) and Ian Heslop (59:25 PB) rounded off the rest of the male Harriers.
