Thunder Run

Postby Rob Gittins » Mon Jul 25, 2016 9:39 am

Stephanie Wood and Kirsty Birch ran well in the Continental 24 hour Thunder Run at the weekend finishing second in the pairs relay competition with 19 laps (190km). They were in contention with the leaders until early morning, but an injury to Kirsty with 5 hours remaining meant they were unable to challenge for first place. Steph ran the last 3 laps (30k) without a break to hold off a late challenge from the third placed team.
A great weekend ( for runners and families) with lots of local clubs taking part - might be worth putting in the diary for next year.

Thanks for posting the girls fantastic performance Rob. Brilliant effort Stephanie and Kirsty. Well done.

A friend's club enter it each year and it is supposed to be great fun and club social. It is open to anyone who can run a lap of 10 km. People camp and picnic etc.

I will instigate a Macclesfield Harriers team (or two) next year for any interested parties. It will be open to all abilities.

An awesome result girls. Just think, if only..............

Well done ladies. Clearly the Forest 5 was a quick warm up Steph for a longer day out!

Well done again
