Marshals
If we could all gather at race registration (Trentabank Visitors Centre) at 6.45pm for a final up-date and then grab a marshal’s bib and deploy to the appropriate positions in good time. Those who can’t make 6.45pm and are going straight out, could you please ring me to confirm your plans.
Emergency Response Procedure
1. Each marshal should remain in position until the sweeper arrives with the last runner and declares the previous section clear.
2. All emergencies must be reported to Peter Nolan (Race Organiser) 07980 543276.
3. Communications in mobile phone black spots are via the sweeper who will get a message to the nearest marshal that has a mobile phone signal.
4. Should a runner go off route the marshal at the end of the section, after being relieved and informed by the sweeper, should organise a search. The sweeper should remain on-route.
5. In the case of a suspected fracture, heart attack or serious loss of blood, apply basic first aid and ring the race organiser, Peter Nolan. There will be two St John Ambulance First Aiders at the finish. In conjunction with these two, I will then dial 999 and request an ambulance and/or Buxton Mountain Rescue depending on the condition and whereabouts of the casualty.
6. All retirements should report to marshals and thence to finish officials.
7. Marshals returning to the finish at the end of the race should be prepared to bring down injured and retired runners. They might consider driving them to A&E if necessary.
8. Two first aiders (St John Ambulance) will be stationed at the finish with first aid equipment.
NB. It is another bumper year for flies and midges. Marshals might consider protecting themselves with wrap round sunglasses, midge nets or Skin-so-Soft.
