Joss Naylor Challenge

Postby Colin Ardron » Fri Apr 03, 2015 3:50 pm

Some of you will already be aware that Jim Kelly is proposing to have a bash at the JNC and have already pledged their support. Jim has kindly agreed to me starting my attempt at the same time and on the same day. However both of us would ideally like our own navigator and bag carrier on each leg. The idea is to start together and it would be really good if we completed together but we need the flexibility to modify strategy if need be.
So the favoured dates are Friday 31st July to Sat. August 1st with a start time tailored specifically to allow us to finish with ample time to get to the pub before they stop serving food.

We are both allowed 24 hrs (there are some advantages to being old) but would hope to complete in around 20hrs.

Most of you will know that there are roughly four legs and two road crossings - we will provide road support to get you back to wherever your car is, food to keep you going and beer at the finish. Of course there is nothing to stop you doing two legs or even the whole thing.
If interested either let Jim or me know or post here or both - your company would be really appreciated.

Brilliant - we'll all be out to accompany you round on, I'm sure, a quiet, still, warm summers day/night.

Hi Colin

I would be honoured to assist/hinder your progress (if you'll have me), only sticking point is I was intending to do Borrowdale on Saturday 1st, but it's early days entries haven't even opened yet, and as you say the date is a little fluid. Anyways consider me willing and able all being well.

Thanks Larry,

will update you re. final date but I hope you appreciate that we are very very old and will be moving very very slowly over the hill but this will give you the opportunity to study the wildlife en route.

thanks again for your offer of support.

Just a note to confirm the date for our little walk: it will be Friday 31st July to Sat. 1st August. Of course anything could happen between now and then but this is as confirmed as it gets.

Thanks from Jim and me for all those who have offered to help - really appreciate it and hope you will all have a grand day out with a few tales to tell at the end over a few jars. We could still do with perhaps another navigator and the odd bag carrier so don't be shy.

As things firm up we'll put a schedule out for your perusal and amusement.

Watching from the sidelines... would love to be involved, but knee still not fixed... Consultant appointment awaited now that I know what the problem is.

Can still cycle though

Good luck to all :D ... I'll be watching...

Many thanks for all the offers of support for Colin and I. We could still do with one or two extra hands, particularly from those who are handy with map & compass, or gadgets.
We expect to be putting together a draft schedule very soon. We have also booked the flat at Greendale Bridge, Wasdale for both the Friday and Saturday nights for use by supporters and it would help advance planning if we had some idea of likely numbers. Please let Colin or I know if you would like a space.
