Interesting to compare the price with this year's World Masters Orienteering Championships in Sweden (not a cheap country). Doing the full 5 races costs €150 if entering before the end of March. It was cheaper before January. That works out at €30 per race or about £23. Although that is much more expensive than most fell races it would seem about right for a world champs. £45 seems expensive but then it costs more than that to see a football match these days, and when the likes of me, Barry and Colin started watching them you got in for 4/- (that is 20p to anyone born after about 1964) and we could see the likes of Bobby Moore and George Best, and England had a World Cup winning team. Mind you I did enjoy the World Mountain Running Champs when they were held on Coledale Horseshoe about 25 years back, and we moaned then about the cost of entering the open race.
