2018 CLUB FELL CHAMPS after the Final Race the club Handicap

Chris Bentley was the outright winner with Mark Burley 2nd and Dave Brockbank 3rd.
Alannah Birtwistle improved throughout the year finishing outright winner of the ladies after her stunning Handicap race. Kathleen O’Donnell was 2nd lady just ahead of Anne-Marie Jones.

Over the series of 19 races; 150 turned out at least once and 26 did 5 or more. Club enthusiasts i.e. most races were Barry Blyth 16 and Kathleen O’Donnell 11.
The best attended races were all club organised with 55 racing Bollington 3 Peaks (Beer and Curry attraction?); 63! (wow!) Wincle Trout and 53 on the club handicap. Amazing given others were officiating, Marshalling or supporting.

The most improved runner compared to 2017 was Alannah who is the 1st lady winner of the Ken Hall trophy (a lump of rock).

I’ve attached the final table. It's probable I've made the odd error. Let me know and I'll correct.

PS We are having discussions on 2019 races and how best to meet the needs/aspirations on club members. Watch this space!
Here’s to an injury free (warm up/keep stretching) and enjoyable 2019.
Best wishes
Barry

Matt spotted a minor error in his score which improves his total by 36pts to 5094. This moves him to 5th overall swapping places with Pete Nield.

Corrected spreadsheet attached.

You're doing yourself down Colin, you were 150th equal, out of 725 club members that sounds like about the top 20% to me.

Of course once you take age adjustment into account, I'm pretty sure you can count yourself amongst the prizes. On the downside this does unfortunately mean that using Barry's handicapping spreadsheet (developed from the rules of Mornington Crescent) you'll be starting next year's handicap about 15 minutes after Simon Harding, so you might only get half a bowl of soup in the pub when you get back. The queue at the bar should be diminishing though.

Spot on Julian. n the age catagory listing Colin was 1st MV 74. This means he has a buy a round for all the 70 pluses.
