EARLY PURPLE ORCHID FELL RUN - 09.30 a.m. Tideswell Dale picnic area car park (GR: SK 154742).

A 2 hour 8 mile fell run which takes in a stretch of the River Wye, through the woods into Ravensdale and then a steep climb to the top of Wardlow Hey Cop and returns via St. Peter's Stone and Litton. At this time of year the purple orchids are a spectacular sight, the purple spikes are the "long purple" of Ophelia's garland, as referred to by Gertrude in Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Post run refreshments are available at the Yondermann Cafe, Wardlow Mires or alternatively at the Three Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires. Note that the Three Stags Heads is an old school Derbyshire pub. Lager is not served and mobile phones will be confiscated.

Meet at Tucker's Towers for car-sharing for an 08.45 departure.
