Handicap Recce, Sunday 30th November 2014
Posted: Thu Nov 27, 2014 10:10 pm
9.30 Tegg's Bottom Car Park. GR 945 719
Two weeks to go to the Annual Fell Handicap Race and here as promised is a recce run of the last two thirds of the route.
The view point at Tegg's Nose Summit
From Tegg's bottom car park we will take a direct route to the Peak View Cafe, not far from the Cat & Fiddle pub. There we join the race route, start the recce and quite quickly reach the sweetie tree. There's a number of routes out from the tree to Shining Tor so we can explore the different options.
From Shining Tor we will follow the route exactly to Lamaload, Walker Barn and finally off the summit of Tegg's, back down to the car park where the race finishes. It starts from the St Dunstan's Pub in Langley.
When you reach the sweetie tree .......But don't forget on the race to keep a wrapper for evidence or Phil will disqualify you.
Bring some good gear suitable for the prevailing conditions and some munchie bars and drink.
This will not be a timed run. It will proceed at a steady pace suitable for all with the primary intention of checking the route out. We'll be out for about 2.75 hours
There is a route map here http://www.mh.k313.com/mh/fell/handicap.pdf
and deatils of the handicap itself on the website here http://www.mh.k313.com/mh/fell/handicap.pdf
