Last of the summer series.

Takes ca 1/2 hr to get to Buxworth. If you want to car share can meet at my house for 6pm (or pick up on route going via Rainow & Whaley Bridge) . Juniors Jacob and Alistair will be joining us along with Matt and Mark W. That's 5 in which case Mark's will be OK. Can you bring your Bongo Matt just in case,
Post here if you want to join this group.

I don't need to car share but I'll be the summit marshall on Wednesday so I'll look forward to cheering you on (and possibly taking a few snaps as you reach the top, faces contorted in agony :))

Would love to be there as we did this race many times in the past. Managed under 26 minutes at the age of 50 so I'll be interested to see who can beat that.

Vicky and I are currently in Australia long termish but I am hoping to be back briefly to compete for Denbigh at the FRA Relays n October. As some of you will know I was the race referee last year at Llanberis and, as requested, successfully exerted my limited influence to enable Macc Harriers to not suffer any penalties or disqualification. I still await the backhander (I'm sure it was a crate of beer?) that was so earnestly promised.

In the meantime we are not getting much mountain running in over here but here's a site where you can follow what we're up to:

Best regards to all especially Trevor and Barry who I hope are slowing down a bit now.

Hi Martin. Just checked some past results. Did 24.01 in 2003 at the ripe old age of 56 (just pipped by young Tom Wild). 2007 as V60 did 25.37. Your hopes are met as I'm doomed to 30+ (did 30.00 last year).
Finding it nice to get a rest at the bottlenecks but it does nothing for your time. Hope to bump into you in October and I'll buy you a pint in lieu (a crate would be unheathly for you). I'm not expecting to run but am a back up just in case.

cheers Barry

PS 1st time under 20 for a 5k Martin. The Dingo diet must be having an effect!

Matt

Dave T is running not racing tomorrow. Told him to assume that you can take 8 and pick up from the canal bridge at 6.10 in the Bongo.

What a lot of Macc prizewinners tonight - Barry Blyth, John Mooney, Andrea Frost and Dave Walker (fresh from his recent Park Run victory over Tucker). Have I missed anyone? Also we made the most noise by far in cheering our prizewinners, so much so that a small dog at the next table joined in and almost out-howled us. Fun on the hill and in the pub.

Well done Barry and the rest of you! Vicky says to point out that she got a prize in 2000 for coming last! I first ran Eccles Pike in 1995 when Andy Wilton was still at the height of his powers - is he still going?

We're house sitting for a family with a pet dingo at the moment. So maybe it's down to he walks he's taking me on. Found a hilly off road parkrun for this weekend so will let you know what happens!

Did that under 1 year old finish ahead of you Martin (along with his dad!)?

I'm having an easier year after a back op last Nov but I'll have go at some Park runs in the autumn. Think sub 20 is no longer on the radar but you never know.

Must have been a little motor in the pushchair!

148 runners last night I see - only 32 in 1995!

John, you don't look very happy. Would you have preferred wine to your 4-pack of Guinness ?
