WHALEY WALTZ & CLUB CHAMPS

Postby BARRY BLYTH » Mon Jun 23, 2014 8:35 pm

This race starts on the A6 ca 1.10 pm on Sat 28th just after the "carnival" passes through. It works it's way up to Wind Gather rocks and returns by much the same route except for the "amusing" (see the on line videos) river crossing ca 150 yards from the finish.

This is another club counter. You need to do a "Long" to get the 6 qualifying races in the next long being Windgather in October.

I've attached the latest table after the KinderTrog (and Passing Cloud) which puts Matt Lewis 1st and yours truly 2nd in both the championship and handicap. They have completed 6 races including a long so can't be caught until others do a long (Windgather; the Roaches and the club Handicap to come). Rachael Lawrance is currently leading lady closely followed by Clare Griffin. Both have a chance along with Mark Messenger of taking the Ken Hall Rock (based on handicap scores).

Unfortunately I'll be down south for this week ends soaking at the WW. Could have done with that on the Trog which was an energy sapping and "blistering"16 mls around Hayfield. Matt suffered a bit with blisters; Phil Barnes withdrew with what sounds like heat stroke and Angela Leonard had to run with "clawed" feet to avoid the pressure on blisters on the balls of her feet. I went a bit dizzy myself after the race. Steve Watts had a good run coming in as 1st V50.

Cheers Barry

PS If you spot any errors/omissions in the table let me know.

At least the trout has been dead long enough now that it should be fairly stiff and may have stopped smelling! Any volunteers?

Trout Biltong should be fine. Meat and fish varieties of Biltong are common in Africa. I've tried a few; quite tasty!
