Bob Graham Round 20th June

Postby Simon » Sun Jan 12, 2014 6:55 pm

As you all know, my aspirations for the BGR were thwarted by food poisoning in 2012.

Hence, I have decided to have another go on 20/21st June this year.

Managed to persuade a few folk to support (thanks to you all...you know who you are) and I'll post here on the recces and training runs.

Hebden next week; Haworth Hobble; Lakes mountain 42 and the Calderdale Hike are on the horizon...

Anyone want to join the fun?

Hi Simon,

Good luck with the BG. I'd offer support but am unavailable that week.
Could be up for some training though and I plan to get signed up for the Lakeland 42 so will see you there.

Cheers, Tom

Larry is signed up for the LM42 as well. Hoping to set a date to go and recce the route in advance. Other longer days are likely to be in the week, as I work shifts, but shall post here....

....just going for a quick trot over to the Roaches.

...should get my week's climbing up to 10,000ft.

Cheers

Plans coming together...

Thanks to all who have offered support so far. As yet unattached to Legs (!): Trev, Phil B, Dave Walker, Darren Burns.

Sketching out a plan, it's looking something like this:

LEG ONE.
Larry (navigating)
Jon T
Stuart Hirons
Hazel

LEG TWO
Mark Townsend (navigating)
Larry
Jon T
Stuart Hirons

LEG THREE
Dale Colclough (navigator)
Gerry Dewhurst
Steve Foster

LEG FOUR
Claire Griffin
Geoff Pet (navigator)
Peter McNulty
Kath T?

LEG FIVE
Trevor Longman (Nav)
Claire Griffin
Hazel
Luke Cartledge
Johanna Mott
Larry and Jo Day

Road support: Brian Mc has very kindly offered the services of himself and his motorhome and a mate of mine (Jane Clayton) is happy to be involved...hence will probably do the Wasdale slot.

Just to confirm, Friday 20th June starting at 18.30 on a 23-ish hour schedule.

Any more takers...all welcome.

Of course, the plan can be shuffled according to preference and circumstances.
Apologies if I have overlooked anyone  ...please let me know.
Thanks again :D

Folks, that's tremendous.

Brian, that's very kind of you... You and the van are a very welcome addition. As for Wasdale, I am sure my mate Jane will be able to have it covered... Precise plan there TBC..

Phil, Dave and Trev, I'll keep you floating for now as there maybe some adjustments to be made...if that's OK? Thanks for your support.

Once the spreadsheet is filled in, I'll send it round...for now, just edited the post above.

Thanks a lot all... Shall be in touch. :D

Spent a cracking three days in the Lakes with Jon T, Tom, Stu and Paul, plus nav-meister Larry looking at the Lakes Mountain 42 route.

Planning to go up again on Monday 23rd to set off from Askham and do the first and last thirds of the route... Askham to Patterdale via High Street and back via Place Fell and Martindale.

Currently have a stinking cold, but should be over with by then.

Anyone fancy joining me? Mean an early start...

Some of us not so young ones are staying in Patterdale Tuesday to Friday. Could possibly meet up with you for a walk/drink.
I don't think we have any serious plans as regards to routes. Perhaps you could offer a suggestion which would be of benefit
to you and something different for us.
