Thanks for posting this Julian. I'm actually quite tempted to do this - it's surprising what catches the imagination and for me this route circles the area that my mother grew up in and I visited quite frequently as a child. In fact Crumlin looks to be at about the centre. I remember for my child hood visits how the valleys changed from a very industrial, coal mining an steel dominated area to an area returned more to its natural state as that industry disappeared. I also remember trips to the surrounding 'mountains' as they were called and the stark contrast to the industrial valleys and being amazed that my nan, in her early 80's, still wanted to walk in them. Maybe a bit early in the year for me but would be nice to go back, I can feel an itch starting........

It's 'nominally' like the Mont Blanc events etc., whereby you have to enter by end November, and if it's oversubscribed they have a draw.
However, they haven't needed to have a draw for a few years now, everyone who wanted to has been able to start. 4 from the club at last year's jaunt.

Also it's £80 for non-members of the Long Distance Walkers, £60 if you're a member, but as it only costs £13 to join the LDWA....

One of the attractions of it being in a different area every year is that you go to new places, I don't know South Wales at all, looking forward to it ( I think !).

Steve,
If you`re not yet an LDWA member you may not know that you have to do a qualifier & I don`t think they accept any races or exotic foreign events.
However you do not have to have done the qualifier at entry time
Jules will put me right if I`m wrong

Phil's right in that to take part you need to have completed a 50 mile event or at least 50ml of a longer event since jan2013
However any event will do if there are results avaliable, just send copy of results sheet, or let them know web link or whatever. 100ml round pyrenees would be fine, as would b smithy.
Note you don't need to have completed your 50 miler when you enter, you can do it early next year.

It'd be good to have a decent, or even an indecent gang from Macc there, last time that happened was 10+yr ago! Trev, mark h kath, louise and a couple of others as I remember trundled round bits of God's own country.

Similarly, if you're interested in the LDWA Hebden event in Calderdale - 15 or 22 miles walk or run, on 18th January next - then enter now,
http://www.alangreenwood.biz/index.html
https://www.sientries.co.uk/event.php?event_id=1110
about 100 of the 400 places left.
(Alternatively if you don't want to go round then just tell me what finish time you'd like and I'll add you to the results.)
