All,
Sounds like a great evening, some photographs from a photographer in MDOC:
http://www.petercull.com/f111515475 Peter quotes on his website: "This event is run by Macclesfield Harriers and it named in memory of a young athlete, Polly Lander, who could not outrun Leukemia.
I found out about it from an email circulated through MDOC and I thought I'd go along as it was local. I'm glad I did. It was a fine mid-Summer evening and the orienteering was organised with spartan efficiency; text control descriptions, needle punches and control cards.
A mass start meant that all the local runners could meet up before setting off and as it was also a score event it meant they were all there together in the end. But a real headache for photography as all the fit runners were long gone five minutes after the start and not due back for two hours.
I walked down to Wingather Rocks to find one of the controls and I found climbers. They were a friendly bunch so I took some shots. Then I went back to the finish and covered the end of the race.
Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the event and they left, in convoy, to round off the evening at the Cat & Fiddle. I think Polly would have approved. "
