This Wed night run - Rudyard lake hotel

Postby Julian Brown » Mon Jan 24, 2011 4:16 pm

We have a route. We have a map. But we’ll probably get lost anyway.

We might have a bit of food left over from the LDWA event the other day which will be on offer at our humble, not to mention chilly, abode (Fox's Reach) at the end.
We could perhaps do with a 'current non-runner' to stop at our place and put the kettle on for our return ?

The pub is fairly easy to find. Rudyard is not a big place.
Easiest route....
Drive from Macc towards Leek. Through Rushton and keep going.
When you see a sign right towards Rudyard, B5331, follow it.
Under the railway bridge, to a mini roundabout (by the ‘old’ Railway Hotel)
Right there (towards Biddulph / Congleton), then IMMEDIATELY bear right again, at the war memorial, onto Lake Rd
Keep trundling down Lake Rd for a bit and the pub is on the right. Little car park at the front, through this to the much bigger one at the back.
If you go too far you’ll reach our house (Fox's Reach, on the left, red car, black cat) then fairly shortly after that the end of the road.

Pub has a 150 place car park and is usually deserted in the week so we should be OK. I’ll go and have a word though.

They do a carvery till 9pm which at £3.75 is I imagine fairly good value. Tell them before we set off if you’ll be eating later.
Hope to see a few wed night..

The pub grub sounds cheap enough but will Julian have us back in time to order something?

Might have to knock 10 mins off the route - set off 5:45 last night and got back 8:20 - possibly a bit long....

90 mins sloshing around in this mud sounds more reasonable.
