I will help out with the refreshments after the race. I mean eating and drinking thereof as Ross and Steve will finish before me.

Craig,
I`ll happily do any marshalling role as i shan`t be racing, quite happy to do "sweeper" which would fit with car park duties.
I`ll see you Saturday for flagging.
See separate post for Tanky`s,where i`m volunteering for driver/support.

Sorry craig, the swallows have the usual (too many) kids activities to offer marshalling support.
Will send cakes with steve as our token input

If there ever was an incentive to attend a race its Frans cakes !. Those supplied for Langley 7 were top. In fact it was difficult for anyone else to get even a look in the tin as I was consuming them so fast.
Seriously Fran you do not have to supply any cakes but I am sure the course marshals will enjoy them if you do.
P.S. Since you are obviously an accomplished master cake maker how come Steve is so skinny !.
Cheers. Craig

Julian,
i reckon you`ve got it all right EXCEPT at GR984683 where you`ve cut a corner & I think it should follow the footpath down to the road.

There you go.

To be honest I think a lot cut the corner - but it's wrong to encourage it I suppose..

Julian is your map right? Its a different route to the one I ran last year and a couple of years previously. Has the route changed and I'm just being a bit slow on the uptake. The route run previously has always been to bear right after the river crossing and then sharp left, through two or three fields parallel to the river in a generally west direction and then to turn right to cross the road a few hundred yards west of the point on your map. Previously the route has then taken the diagonal north-westerly rake under Helmesley Rocks turning towards the north to meet the track and join the route marked. I apologise now if I have forgotten the route change announcement, but this might be a good time to clear any confusion, particularly for those marking the route out the day before. :?

Yeah, Julian's map looks wrong to me! I agree with Stephen's description. Map snippet on the FRA forum here as they discuss the route too!

Steve,John,
Yep,you`re right. After the river it goes rt briefly then left across 3 fields or so parallel to river, then right(northish) to cross road, left up a track past Helmsley Rocks then right across the moor to join the footpath halfway between the 2 roads, not where Julian`s map shows.
Not too much of problem `cos that bit will be flagged as none of it is on rights of way.

New improved version, hopefully a bit closer, but let me know if not.

www.mh.k313.com/mh/fell/roaches%20route.pdf

(What I'd done was update the map with Phil's correction above 'to discourage corner cutting', but updated an old version with the wrong route by the river, hence the cockup.)

Sorry about that, will stick to the roads.
