OK. This event will take place on Wednesday, November 24th.

Starting point for the event and other details will be confirmed on 10th November so pl. keep an eye on the forum.

Due to the terrain this will be a pairs only event (threes ok too). Full FRA kit required (i.e. full waterproofs, etc...)

Orienteering Now Wednesday 24th November

Postby Digby » Tue Nov 09, 2010 10:20 pm

Date confirmed: Wednesday 24th November

I've had to change the date because of parking access.

The venue is the White Hall outdoor Education Centre, Long Hill, Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 6SX.

Pl. car share as much as possible as parking space is limited.

Registration is between 6.30pm and 6.50pm. It is a 2 hour score event for pairs or threes. Full waterproof cover required as well as hat gloves and whistle.

Afterwards at the Shepherds Arms, Whaley bridge.

Don't forget to read this bit!

Umm I haven't read all the posts here, but if the date has changed and it was to be held on 17 November, when is it going to be held now? I assume it’s not tonight? I also assume we are parking in the car park in front of the main building at White Hall (entrance off long hill) rather than round the back? Perhaps you could confirm Digby. TA

Its all clear now. It's on the 24 November :-). Always helps to read all the post. Sorry.

sorry Dgby- just realised i've got to pick the kids up from school on thursday (in cornwall) so will have to spend thursday running the gauntlet on the m6/m5 rather than running round collecting controls. Will be there wed eve tho

Digby,
I`ve just realised that now you`ve had to change the date I won`t be able to collect contols on the Thursday cos I`m already committed to a group run round the handicap.
Maybe you can find another volunteer, otherwise in guess you`ll have to do it yourself at the weekend.
Whoever does it don`t forget you need to equip them with the spanners to undo the locknuts.
All the stuff is in my garage & I`ll spend next Wednesday putting it out.If I`m not in the White Hall carpark by 6pm you`ll find me down any one of a hundred deep holes up on the plateau!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian, thanks and don`t forget to get the spanners from Digby on Wednesday night.
The "O" kit normally lives in the clubhouse but is currently in my garage.I`ll be in touch after the weekend to arrange to collect the kites & spanners from you.

Hi All

Some reminders and more info re Wednesday night:
- this is a pairs or threes event only
- Full FRA kit required for each person (i.e. full waterproof body cover, map (supplied), whistle, compass), also hat, gloves, compass. No kit no run. Mobile phone recommended.
- Registration will be at the Whitehall outdoor Centre from 6.30pm to 6.50-pm. No later starts.
- It is about a 10 minute walk to the start, which will be at 7.00pm
- Time allowed 2 hours
- pub afterwards is as per the Calendar
- No entry fee but I will be asking for a donation to Buxton Mountain Rescue.

Finally, my trusty helper, Phil, is not available this year to help out on the evening. Is there a willing volunteer that will help me with start and finish (it's worth a pint!)?

Thanks, Digby

Despite casting my vote for the week day, myself and t'lad won't be along on this occasion, but thanks for all the effort you've put in.

Controls out on a beatiful if frosty morning.
You will have ice to contend with tonight.
Brian, unless you`re up for a 4 hour+ session tomorrow you might want to leave the controls up on the rough moorland for Digby to collect over the weekend.Up there away from paths they are unlikely to be nicked by anyone.....noone in their right mind would go up there.....it`s `orrible.
Hope you all have fun.
