After Windgather:
Whilst about 20 harriers were up in Scotland at the British relays for the weekend, some (8 in all) had a go at the Windgather (a "LONG") race.
Richard Applewhite and Fred Wardle were first harriers back just separated by a couple of minutes. This puts Richard 1st equal with Pete Neild in our club champs. Pete needs to do either of the remaining Long races (Roaches/Club Handicap) to ensure an outright win. If he doesn't then any of Graham Brown, Chris Bentley, John Mooney, Dan Croft or David Lawrence can take the top sot if they do either of the 2 remaining Longs
Best 6 races including at least 1 long to count in this years competition.
I've attached the updated club table after the Windgather race. To date 117 runners have turned out with 29 having done at least 5 or 6 races. 27 have done at least 1 long. Pete Neild and Richard Applewhite are now tied on 4583 but Pete has a race in hand. Alannah Birtwistle lies 3rd overall (1st lady) on 4558 closely followed by Graham Brown 4526.
Angela Markley is 2nd lady on 3982 and Sophie Kirk 3rd on 3713 both yet to do a long.
The handicap competition is also based on 6 races including a long. Handicap factor based on race results from 2015. Additionally I allow 1% for over 50's as that's the approximate rate of annual "decline". Leading contender for the Handicap trophy is Graham Brown who is performing at ca 9% better than last year.

After the ROACHES:
21 Harriers turned out including Dan Croft and Pete Neild who were 1st and 2nd Harriers with Julian 3rd back. We won the ladies team prize with Clare Griffin (also 1st LV40), Sophie Kirk and Gillian Lyndsey. Other vets taking prizes were Mandy Calvert 1st LV50 and Barry Blyth 1st MV65.
The outcome for the club Fell champs means that Pete is outright winner with Dan 2nd (can possibly be overtaken by Chris Bentley) and Graham Brown 3rd.
Alannah is still 1st lady but could be overtaken by Angela.
Graham Brown can't be beaten in the handicap competition.
121 runners have turned out over the series with just the handicap race to go.
I'll use the results from this table and the summer series to work out handicaps/start times for Phils to "overview for the handicap race.
