Orienteering Lyme Park - Sat 3 Jan 2015

Postby Brian J » Sun Dec 21, 2014 9:59 pm

A reminder that the annual mass start charity event organised by MDOC is on Saturday morning 3 Jan 2015.
Always good fun and quite a few Macc runners turn out for it, and not just those who are members of orienteering clubs.
A good one to have a go at even if you've never orienteered before. Not too technical.

Thanks Brian, i just came on to post about this.

Please do feel free to come along all. Lyme Park is a great place to orienteer: even if you get lost relative to the control you want, it's hard to get properly lost! You just need to remember that on an orienteering map, woodland is white (or darker shades of green) :)

If anyone wants to practice with the symbols, there's a good online quiz here (not a dodgy Viagra site, honest).

But if you're ok at navigating, it doesn't really matter what the control description is - just get to where you need to go and look for the little orange and white kite on a stick.

See you there!

I thought I'd boost this up the message board as it's on Saturday.

Happy new year everyone!

Sadly I am crocked so only volunteering at ParkRun for me. :-(

Happy New Year...

Great, it'll be good to see some Harriers flying the flag, thanks both. Hope you recover soon from your crockedness Neil.

Thanks all at MDOC for a jolly boggy trot, visiting muddy bits of Lyme Park you never knew existed.
Good to see plenty of Harriers out !
Rik narrowly beat me (Julian) for the longest out but he found the wreckage of an aeroplane ! (and brought it back).
There's folk in Malaysia want a word....

Street orienteering in Hazel Grove Tues night, possibly less boggy but you never know....
