An Evening with Ultra-Fellrunner Steve Birkinshaw

Tuesday 11th November 2014,

This summer, Cumbrian fell runner Steve Birkinshaw set a new record for tackling all of Alfred Wainwright's 214 peaks in the Lake District. Tonight we will hear about how he prepared for and tackled the immense challenge.

The 45 year old university researcher ran the equivalent of two marathons a day completing a total of 320 miles, with 118,000ft of ascent in six days and 13 hours. Steve's sister has Multiple Sclerosis and his challenge raised more than £12,000 for MS charities the national MS Society and a local charity, the Samson Centre. Steve’s talk this evening will raise funds for this charity.
