Weather,& maybe a snowy run tomorrow

Postby phil cheek » Sun Dec 04, 2011 10:08 pm

Those of us at Bacup today for an Open5 had a mix of rain, sleet hail & thunder.I`d listened to forecasts .I`d heard a much less extreme forecastof cloudy with occasional showers last night & again en route to the start.
Unfortunately,on an event normally known for good planning this one was a disaster.
I completely lost any ability to work out the terrain, with a map which was completely useless & decided I was not ngoing any further.so stoppede after 2 of the 5 hours.
The event centre by then was full of VERY cold folk, some incapable of changeing into dry kit without help.
I`m left with great praise to all the other Hrriers who stayed out,put up with the conditions & managed the bad route planning. The Lawrences(enjoying? a first postnatal event together),Matt & Rose(who couldn`t realistically get the trike to the start, let alone any controls),Karen & Annette.Well done all.
I`m planning a run in the snow<hopefully, tomorrow after lunch & into dusk.Any takers give me a buzz

Kath's run starts 10:30am from Cockhall lane, Langley. Full gear I suspect. Darn these tights. Never could get the seams strait

Exciting & challenging on top late this afternoon.
Snow showers from when I set off from the Buxton road above Setter Dog then a long hail/snow shower as I topped out on Shining Tor & came back.
A couple of inches on the ground but not drifting much, too wet I think.
I`m not out now till next week so enjoy it while you can folks
